Mad, scary and bad

Surviving the walk to school each morning

Walking in a winter wonderland

2012-12-11 sunrise smaller“It’s a beautiful day” was the soundtrack playing through my mind, as we set off for school this morning.

A perfect winter’s morning, frost on the leaves and branches, a mist rising from the fields, our breath clouding as we walked.  The rising sun silhouetted the oaks lining Broad Lane.

2012-12-11 holly smallerThere were some fantastic scenes to accompany the mass of cars parking from the 30mph signs all the way to school.

Leaves and berries on the holly bush opposite Mill Lane were edged with the hoar frost, after a clear starry night.  I’m glad we had a camera to capture these pictures, as they’ll have melted soon.

Although heavy, the traffic was flowing reasonably well throughout our walk today.  It was reminiscent of a dance, cars weaving in and out amongst each other, slowly and carefully.  Lorries and buses were strangely absent.

Today’s scores out of 10:
Traffic volume: 9
Stupid/careless parking: 0
Manners: 9
No. of cars parking illegally:0
