Ice, ice baby
How bitterly cold was it this morning? Cold enough for me to be wearing gloves for our walk to school – a rare occurrence. The local traffic news seemed full of icy roads around Nantwich, what would Broad Lane be like today?
The puddle strewn path of a couple of days back was more like a skating rink this morning, at least the water by the kerb is now solid, so no splashing.
It’s the regular series of logjams along the road, with the volume of traffic seeming back to how it was before. The new bus driver seems to be very aware of the problems, driving very carefully throughout the jams and taking it steady afterwards.
With cars parking as far away from the school as the 30mph signs and the Maylands bend, there’s nearly a mile of challenging road to negotiate these days.
UPDATE – You could hear a pin drop
Following on from my writing about the silence from Cheshire East regarding “bogus” letters of support for Muller’s planning applications, I have now received an almost identical reply to that given to the person who brought all this to the council’s attention.
“When we report representations to planning committees we list the points made but do not state addresses. The ‘Observations’ section then comments on the points with regard to the weight which Members are advised to attach to them.
Thus if a point is relevant it will be given weight, regardless of the number of people who have made it or the address that it purports to come from. Equally if a point is not a material planning consideration it will be disregarded.”
Is it me, does this feel to skirt around addressing the situation?
