Mad, scary and bad

Surviving the walk to school each morning

Road to Nowhere…

Welcome to another crisp autumn morning’s walk along the road to school.  You might have noticed that our walks tend to start off peacefully, getting more fraught the nearer we get to school?  Today was no exception.

Cars were parked along the road, parents concentrating on getting their children safely out and across to the path opposite.  The volume of traffic slowly but surely increases as we near school.

Sure enough, cars start to mount the pavement to get past each other.  Then, there’s a moment of calm, unusual…

All became clear as the articulated lorry made its way towards Nantwich.  Traffic quickly backed up in both directions, making it very tricky for parents to cross safely with their children.  There was over 1/4 mile of queueing traffic by the time the lorry could squeeze through.

Through all this, however, there were no frayed tempers.  No impatient motorists.  Perhaps the sunny morning helped people to feel happier and more relaxed.  I wonder if this would still be the case if there were another 150 cars trying to get down this country road at this time each morning?

Today’s scores out of 10:
Traffic volume: 9
Stupid/careless parking: 0
Manners: 8
No. of cars parking illegally:0
